A week traveling through northern Catalonia, the land of Barcelona.
Group maximum of 14 people, with vehicle and private guide.
Starting and Finishing in Barcelona, we will visit the most emblematic points of the country, we will go through a great diversity of surprising landscapes; from dense and magical forests, to the rocks that inspired Dalí’s surrealism, mountains and volcanoes, beaches and cliffs, forests and marshes… we will feel the millenary history of the country through its different natural, historical and cultural heritage.

This route can be adapted to the duration desired by the client.

Trip from Barcelona itinerary

Day 1: BARCELONA
On arrival you are welcomed by your own individual guide and taken to your hotel.
A couple of hours are allowed for check-in, unpacking, a refreshing shower and preparation for your visit to the city of a thousand stories, all of them still present amongst us. No hurry, but no wasted time, the official guide will show you the main landmarks and monuments on your first visit, but also many little known traditional places popular to the inhabitants.
Depending on our arrival time, there will be a reservation at a restaurant for your first contact with traditional Catalan cuisine.
The day is dedicated to getting to know the quintessential Barcelona city.

Day 2: BARCELONA – MONTSERRAT – BAGES
After breakfast, preparation for this trip.
After an hour’s journey, arrival at the impressive and unique Montserrat mountain formation. We will visit, at our own pace, the different mountainsides, the Monastery and the lookout points, viewing a panorama of peaks, monoliths and abysses. The walk will take you into the mountainous area, to hidden places filled with good vibrations where throughout history mystics went to seek refuge and contemplate life.
This trip takes about 3 hours by paths and we will see the other side of Montserrat, the Natural Park area and its magic.
Lunch will be at a local restaurant.
After this we will go to the Monastery of St. Benet del Bages where we have reservations at a local hotel.
Time for check-in, walks around the area and a rest period.
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: BAGES – COLLSACABRA
Breakfast at the hotel and a guided trip around the Monastery, the house of the Modernist Painter Ramón Casas and the Fundación Alicia (Ferran Adrià/ El Buli co-founder), with their surprising creativity and investigation about the food science, (depending on availability) and then leave for the heartland area of Catalonia: Collsacabra, land of legends and bandits.
We shall visit the spectacular countryside and enter the Catalan “Grand Canyon” – lunch en route.
In the afternoon a visit to the villages and places along the edge of the Grand Canyon that are full of history and legends.
Walks along trails enjoying  the stunning surroundings.
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: COLLSACABRA – VOLCANES – GARROTXA – ALT EMPORDA
After breakfast and a short morning walk to see the awakening of the Grand Canyon, we head towards the Volcanic area of La Garrotxa, visiting some of the charming villages along the route.
Walk along pathways through the spectacular beech forests, visit an extinct volcano and walk along the inside of the crater.
Lunch en route in the medieval town of Besalú.
Afterwards we can visit the town at our own pace, its Jewish neighborhoods and buildings and then we continue on to the Empordà region.
Arrival at the hotel by mid-afternoon.
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: ALT EMPORDÀ – FIGUERES – FORTRESS AND DALÍ
Today we visit the Lake of Banyoles, of volcanic origin and the largest lake in Catalonia, where the Aquatic Sports of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games were held.
Walk around the edge of the lake to admire the different scenery.
Continue on to Figueres to visit the Castell de Sant Ferran “the useless beauty” fort, which dates from the XVI century.
Lunch in the town.
In the afternoon we visit the Museum Teatro Dalì of Figueres with free time to get to know the town, walk along its main streets, visiting the historic centre, its shops and museums.
Depending on availability, visit one of the best Local Wineries with Empordà certificate  of origin that are situated nearby.
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: DALÍ TERRITORY, CAP DE CREUS, PORT LLIGAT.
We will spend the day visiting the territory that inspired the great artist Dalí.
The Monastery of St. Pere de Rodes, and its magnificent surroundings.
A relaxing walk with amazing views in the Natural Park area of Cap de Creus. An optional swim in the crystal waters of the Costa Brava, you will fall in love with the little villages and hamlets along the way.
Lunch at Cap de Creus.
In the afternoon a visit to Dalí’s house in Port Lligat and  Cadaqués.
Later we head towards the place where civilization began on the Iberian peninsula, the Port of Emporion in L’Escala – Empuries.
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: THE EMPORION TERRITORY / IBERIAN, GREEK AND ROMAN POPULATIONS
Today’s visit is done at our own pace:
We shall follow the footsteps of the Iberian, Greek and Roman populations of Empuries – Ullastret. More than 2,500 years of history await us!
We shall visit the medieval walled villages of the “Empordanet”, and coves and beaches you can only dream about. The authentic Costa Brava.
Lunch en route.
Depending on the timetable and availability, the possibility of visiting Púbol Castle – which is also the burial place of Gala- Dalí.
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: GIRONA AND RETURN TO BARCELONA
After a breakfast in front of the sea, we shall leave for Girona, visit its historic centre, it’s “call jueu ” (Jewish neighborhood) one of the best preserved in the peninsula and its Roman walls and medieval areas.
Lunch in Girona,
After lunch the journey back to Barcelona
Free afternoon to walk around the city, go shopping or sightseeing.
Free time for dinner.

PLUS – Day 9: BARCELONA
Breakfast at the hotel.
Depending on the departure time and availability, the possibility of organising, upon request, guided visits to the Sacred Family church, the Güell Park, the Historical area of Barcelona and/or the Barcelona Football Club Museum.
Transfer to Airport – at prearranged time.

NOTE: The afore-mentioned program can be adjusted according to the wishes of the client.
As all are nearby destinations from Barcelona, we can organize different excursions depending on the number of days available to the client.

We request that if possible all reservations are made at least 2 months in advance by the payment of 50% of the total which should be credited to the following bank account. This is then accepted as confirmation of the reservation and the remainder should be paid 20 days prior to the start of the holiday.
